About

Lindsey Snell is an artist, jeweler, and writer with a special love for the storytelling power of material.

She has been collecting jewelry her entire life (a habit she happily inherited from her grandmother) and approaches metalsmithing as a way to chart her own story.  Trinkets, souvenirs, heirlooms, political pins and more mix alongside her photography and sketches into an awesome visual inventory.

Compelled to make objects that are immortal, each piece is fabricated and formed with care inside her studio. Creating one-of-a-kind work and limited production jewelry, Lindsey shares jewelry as the convergent site of history, culture, and material study.

Snell studied Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign receiving her BFA and MFA. Her contemporary jewelry has been exhibited across the US including the nationally noted exhibition Craft Forms. In addition to her studio practice, Snell teaches metalsmithing and jewelry classes at Custom Deluxe in Portland OR.
